Blank out the key words and turn any document into a quiz
Ticking "I've read and understood" proves very little. A fill-in-the-gap exercise makes people work with the wording, which is more likely to stick. Paste your real document in and ask for the important words to be blanked out.
Turn the text below into a fill-in-the-blank exercise.
- Replace the [10] most important terms with numbered blanks like
____(1)____. Pick words that carry meaning (deadlines, owners,
thresholds, named steps), not filler.
- Keep every sentence otherwise word for word.
- After the exercise, give an answer key as a table: blank number, the
word removed, and the sentence it came from.
- Don't add anything that isn't in the text.
Text: [PASTE]
It suits policy sign-off. A short exercise after "read and accept" gives you a rough idea of who's taken it in, though people can guess or swap answers, so don't call it proof. It works for onboarding too: blank out the steps of your real joiner process and let the new starter put them back.
Want different versions? Ask for three with different blanks, so nobody can memorise where the gaps are. "Only blank out numbers and dates" makes it harder. "Give the first letter of each missing word" makes it easier.
Check the answer key against the original. A word that appears twice can get blanked in one place and keyed once, and a sentence you told it to leave alone can get tidied.
